Reviews

Throughout my adventures trying out Xyience energy drinks, most of the flavors have been pretty standard. I’ve seen cherry lime flavored drinks before. I’ve tried many fruit punch flavored drinks. And, while I’ve never had anything “frostberry blast” flavored, I’ve tried many berry flavored drinks before. However, today I’m trying out a flavor I can honestly say I’ve never tried before: Mango Guava. Is this the ultimate flavor of Xyience energy drink? You’ll have to read on to find out. Or else this would be a very short article.

    How Does It Look?

As with every other flavor of Xyience, there is very little personality to the can. The only real difference between cans is with the color of the circle surrounding the Xyience logo, which doesn’t make too much of a difference. However, I must say the bright orange color of the mango guava can definitely catches the eye, which I can’t say for every other flavor.

    How Does It Taste?

Like I said, mango guava is a flavor I’m not entirely familiar with. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve ever eaten a mango. I don’t eat a lot of fruit. Or vegetables really. But this isn’t about me. This is about the flavor. Of all the flavors I’ve tried so far, mango guava has been the one that stands out the most. It’s not the sweetest, but it succeeds in one particular fashion: it doesn’t have the “diet” aftertaste of the other Xyience flavors. And that’s something you can’t put a price on. Well, outside of the price of a can of Xyience.

    How’s The Energy?

Across all the flavors of Xyience, one thing has been consistent: the energy has been fantastic. As a devoted consumer of energetic drinks, I give Xyience my official seal of approval for caffeinated goodness. And they are more than welcome to put that on their can. If they give me a small cut of the profits..or a large cut of the profits. Either way.

    Do I Recommend It?

And so ends my journey with Xyience energy drinks. For now. Until I find more flavors. So you’re probably wondering what I thought of the mango guava flavor. Well, I suppose you could have skipped ahead and looked at the star rating, but I have faith that you’ve stayed with me this far. Mango guava might just be the best flavor of Xyience I’ve had. The flavor is good, the energy is great, and most importantly the diet flavor is nowhere to be found. And if you’ve read any of my other reviews, you know that’s very important to me. Maybe too important.

  • Now that I’ve tried a few different flavors of Xyience, I feel much more qualified to talk about the brand as a whole. I’ve gotten much more accustomed to the taste, the energy, and the appearance. I enjoyed the cherry lime and fruit punch flavors, although there are a few things I’m starting to notice more consistently as I sample the various flavors. I’ll explain later. With that in mind, let’s take a look at Xyience’s frostberry blast flavor. While I don’t eat that much fruit, is that an actual kind of berry? Let’s talk about it.

    How Does It Look?

While I could barely tell the cherry lime and fruit punch flavors apart when it came to appearance, at least the frostberry blast can showcases a distinct blue circle around the Xyience logo. And…that’s pretty much it. No art on the can. No pictures of frostberries (which I assume are just frozen grapes). Nothing that really screams “energy” or “power” or “buy me”. And so, because the appearance is lacking, it must rest on its energy and taste. Speaking of…

    How Does It Taste?

Whatever a frostberry is, it doesn’t taste bad. However, I wasn’t too impressed with it either. The taste was kind of that generic berry-ish flavor you find with many types of candy and soda. And, considering how great the cherry lime flavor tasted, I was a bit surprised by that. However, the largest problem with the flavor goes beyond that, and is becoming part of a larger issue that I’ve realized. (Remember? That thing I talked about in the opening?) You see, with each new flavor I’ve tried, I’ve noticed a more prevalent “diet” taste you find in many sugar free drinks. Well, perhaps due to frostberry being a lesser flavor than the others, the diet flavor was more noticeable than ever here. And not just in the aftertaste, but in the first-taste. If that’s what you call it.

    How’s The Energy?

While the flavor hasn’t always been Xyience’s strong suit, I can honestly say the energy has been spectacular. Not that I’ve been doing this on purpose (it’s just how I live my life), but every day I’ve tried Xyience was after a night without proper sleep. Every time it’s gotten me whipped into shape, ready for a day of hard work and determination. Or a Netflix marathon. Either way.

    Do I Recommend It?

While frostberry blast has not been the greatest flavor of Xyience, I would still recommend it overall. Once again, the energy Xyience provides transcends the flavor and appearance of the can. In fact, it’s given me so much energy that I’ve begun using words like “transcends”. You know, professional writer words.

  • In my time drinking energy drinks, I’ve tried a pretty wide range of brands and flavors. I’ve had your Monsters, your Amps, your Red Bulls and even Fred Durst’s Xtreme Drink To The Extreme. OK, I made that last one up. I was trying to see if you were paying attention. But a new type of energy drink I’ve seen lately is a more health/fitness conscious type of beverage. Today, I’m taking a look at the cherry lime flavor of Xyience, an energy drink that I’m still not sure how to pronounce. (Is it Zi-ence? X-science? X-ziensze?)

    How Does It Look?

Now, I know that you can’t judge a book by its cover. Everything from the Ugly Duckling to Shrek has taught us that. At least, I think that’s what they were trying to teach us. Where was I going with this? Oh yeah. There’s a lot you can do with your energy drink’s can, as we’ve seen with other brands. Even simpler designs such as the Monster logo have plenty of creativity put into them with variations on the different flavor’s cans. However, Xyience decided to go the simple route. The very simple route. As in there’s not really a lot that stands out about it. What it needs is a nice big logo like a …dumbell? Or an X with…muscles? I don’t know, I’m not a professional logo-maker. But it could use something.

    How Does It Taste?

The first can of Xyience I tried was the cherry lime flavor, a taste you don’t see too often. In fact, most energy drinks don’t have many flavors at all. A lot of them are just “energy drink” flavored. Well, I must say that Xyience’s cherry lime was a refreshing surprise, a good blend of the flvors that tastes more like a healthy soda. Additionally, you have to consider that this is a sugar free and calorie free energy drink. Most of the time that also means flavor free. Or you get that “diet” aftertaste, which nobody likes. Well, with Xyience, you get a flavor that’s better than your run of the mill energy drink, but without that diet aftertaste. Makes me shudder just thinking about it.

    How’s The Energy?

As I said, I’ve been a connoisseur of energy drinks for years now. And as a certified caffeine junkie, you’d think that it would take a lot to give me a jolt of energy. Well, (que plot twist music) I can honestly say that Xyience gave me a pretty big burst of energy in the morning. And, considering I only got 5 hours of sleep the night before I drank it (don’t ask) that’s saying something. I was alert, awake, and ready to get work done. Well, actually I just sat on the couch all day. But with plenty of energy!

    Do I Recommend It?

Besides its underwhelming appearance, Xyience cherry lime really surprised me with its flavor and energy boost. The flavor of cherry lime, which I’ve always been a fan of, is a great choice for an energy drink. And, despite having no sugar or calories, the flavor remains unchanged. And that’s something I never thought would be possible with science. But, as it turns out, it is possible with…Xyience.
